Worship at Advent is dynamic and engaging. We believe that worship should not only touch your heart with relevant messages that relate to your life, but should also engage your senses with opportunities to see, hear, touch, move, and experience meaningful connections with God and one another.
Each week we gather around the core or Nexus experience of Lutheran faith, worship. The timeless format of Lutheran worship, GATHER - WORD - MEAL - SEND, provides the framework for all of our worship gatherings, but the actual content varies greatly from season-to-season and month-to-month. All of our worship gatherings include the celebration of Holy Communion. In Holy Communion the baptized children of God are invited to discover the nourishment we need for daily life. In faith we receive the bread and wine believing Jesus' words, "This is my body, given for you. This is my blood, shed for you for the forgiveness of sins." All are welcome at the Lord's table, children who have not yet begun to receive communion are welcome to come and receive a blessing and for those with dietary concerns we also offer gluten free wafers and grape juice.
Children are a vital part of the community of faith and we welcome children of all ages in all our worship gatherings. However, nursery care is also available during worship for children under 5. Throughout the school year, on the last Sunday we offer a special worship format called AXIS that features music, drama, and interactive storytelling, specifically designed to appeal to families with younger children. Each month AXIS introduces a new virtue (something God puts in us to change the world around us), and that virtue becomes the focus of Discovery Cove, our elementary Sunday morning small groups, for the upcoming month.
